Risk, clusters, and other stuff. [Mar. 4th, 2008|05:46 am]
So.. my sister decided to be thoughtful and give her boyfriend in Germany the board game 'Risk'. We all realized that we did not own Risk, and that Risk was a awesome, thus we bought ourselves a copy as well. However, it turns out that her boyfriend already owns a copy of risk. However, I think he might own just the German version.. So it might be kind of cool to give him the American one anyway. In any event, it looks like we might be stuck with two of the same version of Risk.. maybe. In that case we will just sell the other copy, or give it to someone else. Or whatever.

My cluster is going along all right I guess. I have 8 computers in my room.. one of them I will not be using for the cluster. And one of them doesn't work apparently. I am going to open it up today and see if everything is connected properly, but it could be that a part or more is non-operational due to abuse.. It looks like it's seen better days. Right now I'm using a slightly older version of redhat linux for my slave nodes... or at least some of them.. Some of them I haven't gotten around to tinkering with too much. Also, it seems I do not have enough ethernet  cables or ethernet ports to connect all of them.. But that shouldn't be an issue for too much longer. The funny thing is, due to the age of most of the systems, even if all hooked up.. The cluster's power equates to about the same as this laptop's.. lol. I know this isn't that interesting yet.. but hopefully it will as this continues to develop.

I think I'll mention that I've been making an effort to get in shape. I've been exercising and counting calories and all that jazz. Yeah.

Also, as some of you may know.. My hard drive was recently wiped due to me attempting a partition at 3 in the morning. I know this was silly of me. It wasn't that hard to load everything up again, but some very important projects died.. Such as my major flash projects, a couple novels I was working on,  and over a gig of art I made.. And at this point it isn't possible to recover it ever again. I've gotten back to working on projects, despite the discouragement.. (Man, I should have backed up my stuff.. T_T).

I've started on another flash RPG that has about the same kind of programming as the last one, only I've decided this one isn't about gangsters. Although it will be possible to attain a gang in it.. I've also toned down the seriousness considerably in terms of art direction and story.  Also, I re-started my novels..etc etc.

Lastly, I have plans to move back to Washington or to Alabama at some point in the future. Maybe the not-so-distant future. But first I'd like a driver's license and a car that won't die on a road trip to those places. Taking a plane, bus, or train isn't much of an option because of my computers.. lol. Also, kudos to you if you actually read this far . Huzzah.

Sure... what the hell.. I truly don't have anything better to do. Seriously. [Feb. 29th, 2008|03:46 am]
Stolen from sohmamon

1) Bold what is true about you.
2) Italicize what you wish was true about you.
3) Add one true thing about you to the end of the list.
4) Underline what is half true.

Bats ammunition [Nov. 19th, 2007|10:40 pm]
So... I got this new job. And um...I don't like it. I don't like it at all actually. In fact, even though I just got it, I'm thinking of quitting and finding something else. And I'm not exactly a quitter either. The jobs I've had I've maintained for a year or more... But this job sucks. Big time. Blah.

So now that is out of the way, I'm in the developing stages of my game. Which if I didn't mention before, if a turn-based RPG written in flash about gangsters. And it doesn't have magic or the ability to resurrect fallen party members. I don't have as much time to work on it with my new job and everything....so hopefully my next job gives me more free time. And it isn't that the job consumes a lot of time in a day...But I work from the afternoons until the evening. I'd rather work at night or in the day. This schedule sucks...among other things.

So what else... I got a new sketchbook. Hooray. And also, I was thinking about the nature of an indeterministic universe. See, I lean more toward the idea that different sub-atomic particles act chaotically, and thus this universe cannot be predicted accurately even if you knew all forces and things at any given time and calculated it accurately. I used to be the other way around... but a little bit of homework got me here. So anyway, I was wondering if time (well the predictability of moments to be exact) is as chaotic as I think it is... what is the nature of it's "randomness"? Is there some kind of pseudo random algorithm that we could apply to them, or are they truly random?

Like the people at RANDOM.ORG emulated randomness by taking radioactive interference  from a radio and converted that to code/numbers... which is pretty cool. But I'm wondering if that isn't really truly "random"...rather another much more complex example of a pseudo-randomness... Like examples seen in this wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudorandomness .

The debate over whether our universe is deterministic or indeterministic is certainly not a new one. But like I said...if it is deterministic like I think it might be... what would be the nature of randomness on a sub-atomic level? Etc etc.

Just wondering.

Oh yeah, here's something I drew this evening:

Hey everyone. So let's see, lately I've been helping people with flash. And working on my own flash things too I suppose. But yeah... I just spend insane amounts of time on IRC. I'm on IRC right now as I'm writing this. Sad stuff really. Ah well. Not sure if I'll actually do this every day.... But I might update every time I do a silly oekaki. Speaking of which, here's something I threw together:

So uh... [Nov. 6th, 2007|02:18 am]
Oh hey there. Let's see... I've come up with crazy revelations concerning my RPG battle system which can support like 7 characters on screen at once. And um... yeah. I've also been playing the fanlated version of the first Star Ocean for the Super Famicom... And um, let's see what else...

Oh yeah, I talk to people on the internet a lot. I get into a lot of semantic arguments... which annoys me a little, but whatever. I guess what I was trying to say in the previous post was that I don't really disagree with the premise of socialism... to be fair and all that stuff yada yada... But rather I was just saying it wasn't realistic to assume people are going to behave a certain way. Doesn't matter though.

I twisted my ankle some days back. It sucks. A lot. I'm hoping it's strictly a muscle thing, because it's a pain in the ass. Seriously. Blah.

Here's some-a my "art":

so um..I know that wasn't very interesting. I'll try to do some interesting stuff, or at least think about some interesting stuff and keep you guys posted. Or whatever. Yeah.

(no subject) [Nov. 2nd, 2007|06:14 pm]
So um... I was arguing with someone over socialism. Or something. They argued that greed was taught, and thus with the right conditioning.. if the person's needs were met, they would not be greedy. I thought they were living in a fantasy world, for seriously. Of course this person was being bombarded with comments that greed is pretty much innate (which I agreed with)... and such socialistic or utopian societies this person was talking about don't really work on a massive scale.

I can see why socialism was invented as a result of of the exploitations of capitalism, monarchism, etc... But I think socialism makes the assumption that people are innately good... I could be way wrong. Anyway, I'm not saying capitalism is perfect either... It's obviously being exploited to high-hell as I'm writing this. However, as of now I still support a free market for the most part. But I also support a more even distribution of the state's funds. Like taxing the rich more and taxing the poor less, etc, etc.

Another thing...so I'm working on this turn-based RPG about gangsters in actionscript. And uh... I'm working on the battle system *engine* which is taking me days and days to really get worked out. It's so sad. So uh... maybe this is why I don't update much... because I just kind of ramble on and uh, yeah. So here's an oekaki I did:

Hm.. snails. [Nov. 3rd, 2006|01:46 pm]
Life has been somewhat uneventful. I do play a lot of video games, and sometimes I make stuff. Um.. Yeah. My hands are cold. I suppose I should update later when I've actually accomplished something...Wait, I sort of have accomplished something..I got sort of a high score in galaga. Kind of. I mean, I got kind of bored for playing it for a couple hours or so...So I think my score could have been higher. The score displayed says "24,2760"..But if you check the ranking systems it's actually "1,242,760"...I guess the programmers didn't think a player could get that far or something, even though there are players on twin galaxies that have gone 20,000,000+ points. I don't have that kind of patience. No way. I am going to pat the cat now.

Damnit [Oct. 12th, 2006|09:55 pm]

Damnit, my server is down...Again. Maybe I should switch servers. It's almost sounding like a good idea at this point. In other news, I beat Chrono Trigger again just recently. I wish Magus and Lucca said more. I mean, they are my favorite characters in the game, and yet I find their dialogue lacking. They should make a game just starring Magus and Lucca. That is a good idea. It would be called: Crono Sux. Because I usually get Crono out of my party as soon as it is an option, as I don't think he has a lot of depth. And a game with just Lucca and Magus would probably be infinitely better than all of the other 'Chrono' games. Why? Because, that's why. I am infallible. That's how it is. Yeah.
